Main Purpose of Job

This position provides leadership, oversight, and coordination in planning, designing, deploying and maintaining the local area network and end user systems supporting multiple State agencies located at the State Center complex; including DoIT, DBM, SDAT and EOG; as well as the Maryland Emergency Management Administration located in Reisterstown .  This position provides expert technical advice and guidance to other technical staff within DoIT to support daily technical operations.  This position also provides on-site trouble resolution and support of users for all relevant IT systems.  This is full time exempt position requiring travel to client locations (up to 25%). This position is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Possession of a bachelor's degree in computer-related field from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience:  Five years of IT management experience that includes supporting multiple disperse clients and supervising IT employees.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Microsoft Certified Professionals with valid certifications, and candidates actively enrolled in a Master’s program in IT will be preferred.

Ability to document client requirements;

Reading and writing technical specifications and technical mapping documents;

Ability in developing, managing, and maintaining both customer and end-user relationships.

Experience managing a technical team with 5-10 staff.
