Introduction
The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Division of Occupational and Professional and Occupational Licensing is accepting applications for an Administrative Officer II position. This position will function as the Licensing and Investigation Supervisor. This recruitment is limited to current employees of the State of Maryland

LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide daily direction, operational oversight, supervision, reporting and assurance for all aspects of both the State Board of Barbers and the State Board of Cosmetologist inspection program. This position also oversees the issuance of all shop licenses and proved professional and administrative support to executive staff.
POSITION DUTIES
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Independently plan, organize, assign, coordinate and supervise the inspection activity for approximately 5,800 full service beauty salons, limited practice salons and barbershops. Coordinate, oversee and ensure the licensing of all full service beauty salons, limited practice salons and barbershops within the state of Maryland.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least one year experience in budgeting and reporting
At least one year of supervisory experience
At least two years of inspection and investigation experience
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
This recruitment is limited to current employees of the State of Maryland
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DLLR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DLLR/DUI as a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
