Main Purpose of Job

This position provides administrative and secretarial support to the Cooperative Disability Investigation Unit (CDI), Social Security Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPT-12) and Agency Security Functions.

POSITION DUTIES

Provide administrative support to CDI, HSPD-12 and all security functions.  Review and maintain agency database for case referrals in and out of the CDI Unit.  Assist the CDI Unit with Consultative Examination (CE) scheduling and coordinate surveillance schedules for the Office of Inspector General (OIG) investigators.  The transmissions of all completed Report of Investigator (ROI) are reported/scanned into the case folder and sent to OIG.    Provide support in processing confidential correspondence to SSA’s Office of Personnel Management.  Maintain the business process changes for the credentialing process.  Coordinate annual security initiatives and keeping records of attendance, assist with the maintenance of the agency security manual and preparations for security audits.  Assist with troubleshooting issues of case status request from DDS Examiners, OIG investigators or the SSA Field Offices. Assist with caseloads for Administrator I & III.   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:

Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes:

1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar; ability to research methods, and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information for reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and SSA.  Knowledge of Microsoft computer software programs including the ability to create tables and manage databases such as Access, Excel and other computer  applications.

This recruitment is limited to current permanent Disability Determination Services employees.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
