THIS IS CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYMENT AT AN HOURLY RATE OF PAY, WORKERS ARE PAID ONLY FOR ACTUAL HOURS WORKED, NO PAID LEAVE.

3 Openings - Forest Hill Field Office (Northern Maryland Region)

1 Opening - Easton Field Office (Maryland Eastern Shore Region)

1 Opening - Frederick Field Office (Central Maryland Region)

Main Purpose of Job

Seasonal workers needed to assist with the Fall Gypsy Moth Egg Mass Surveys, and other forest pest projects as assigned.

POSITION DUTIES

Duties will include contact with the public and recording data.  Duties may also include application of systemic insecticides to Hemlock trees, and other forest pest projects as assigned.  Work may involve exposure to insects, ticks, poison ivy, and forest and urban animals, lengthy hikes, working in steep and rocky areas, and carrying packs, supplies and equipment.  Overnight travel may be required, for up to a week at a time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma/GED required.  Each candidate must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with no more than 5 points on driving record.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
