LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service Training Division located in Annapolis, Maryland, is currently accepting applications for a part-time Seasonal Contractual Instructor/Administrative Assistant. The selected candidate will provide instructional assistance in Emergency Medical Responder Training, American Heart Association CPR Training, National Search and Rescue Training, Traffic Direction, Defensive Tactics, as well as National Safety Council First Aid Training to personnel assigned in the Maryland Park Service. The incumbent provides classroom and field instruction and requires travel throughout the state of Maryland. Candidates must be proficient in course creation, and lesson plan development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience using Crown Point Technology Software, Skills Manager, and familiarity with Maryland Park Service Training procedures. Must have current certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with American Heart Association, EMR Instructor Certification with MEIMSS or ECSI, National Association for Search and Rescue,  ISAR Instructor experience, Defensive Tactics Instructor experience, and National Rifle Association Instructor certification in Rifle and Shotgun.

For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.htm.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).

A college degree is preferred but not required.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
