This agency is located in Southern Maryland, approximately 60 miles south of Baltimore.

Main Purpose of Job

This position serves on the Employment Team in the Family Investment Division.  The individual in this position will work with customers to assist them in becoming job ready and employed.  This will include working with customers one on one, in a training lab environment, and out in the community. This person will be charged with providing customers opportunities to obtain valuable work experience that will lead to full time employment and a career. To achieve this the individual will have to build valuable partnerships with the Chamber of Commerce and the business community and the following partners: Workforce Development, Board of Educations, The College of Southern Maryland, The Department of Rehabilitative Services, and other organizations that can provide services to our customers. The individual in this position will work with all partners to obtain and share resources that will assist in removing barriers customers have in obtaining a career. This individual will work under the direction and guidance of the Employment Team Supervisor and work to meet team goals including the job placement, job placement at $10.00 an hour or more, universal engagement,  and work participation.

POSITION DUTIES

Facilitates the internal job readiness process, the job retention process, the job development process, the job placement process, the paid internship process, the Non-Custodial Parent Employment Program, the Foster Care Summer Youth Employment Program, and the work experience process.  

Works with customers one on one to solve the barriers customers may have in becoming job ready and employed.

Meets with vendors or partners to evaluate processes and to ensure customers are getting the services needed to become successful.    

Collaborates with the Regional Work Participation Specialist to ensure customer attendance is entered into WORKS and runs reports to show employment team members where they are in serving customers.

Works closely with the Employment Team Supervisor to monitor all contracts.    

Organizes meetings to ensure the appropriate staff is at the table to discuss job readiness barriers and strategies to help customers obtain employment.   

Reviews current processes and proposals and makes recommendations to increase efficiency within the program.   

Completes monthly reports and evaluations.  

Advises the Family Investment Employment Team Supervisor of any issues with any processes and makes recommendations to correct them.    

Serves as part of the Emergency Management team which provides mass care and sheltering services to residents of Calvert County and the State of Maryland, as necessary.  

Actively participates in the Strategic Planning Quality Assurance Committee or Subcommittee.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

 

Experience: Two years of experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations.

 

Notes:

 

1. Additional professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 

2. Education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university in a human services related field may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester hours per year for the required experience.

 

 3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications or Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Officer Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience creating reports in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience performing job placement.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
