Main Purpose of Job

The Human Services Specialist IV is an advanced-level position that is responsible for determining Title IV-E eligibility for DJS' youth. 

POSITION DUTIES

The Human Services Specialist IV will review and evaluate youth case file documentation to determine potential and ongoing eligibility for the Title IV-E funding. The incumbent will coordinate activities with the DJS Regional Offices and Facilities, and the Circuit/District Courts of the entire state to obtain the necessary determinations for Title IV-E reimbursements.

The Human Services Specialist IV will also be responsible for maximizing and securing Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and Child Support resources to assist in the cost of providing residential care and other services for DJS youth. The Human Services Specialist IV will serve as a liaison between DJS, Child Support Enforcement, and the Social Security Administration to ensure that Department accesses appropriate funding resources. Additional duties will  include preparing monthly productivity reports in collaboration with supervisors to review productivity and data statistics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations.

Notes:

1. Additional professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university in a human services related field may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester hours per year for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications and Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Officer Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have one year of experience determining and processing Title IV-E benefits.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates who possess at least two years of experience performing intermediate to advanced-level functions within Microsoft Excel are desired.
