Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise the Kitchen staff of Holly Center who are preparing and serving meals for the facility. This position ensures that meal production for clients and staff are completed on time and in adequate quantities and of good quality. This position also checks trays at all meals to ensure adequacy according to diet orders, and comply with daily therapeutic diet sheets and food preferences noted on tray cards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Additional education in the area of food service management, nutritional care, institutional administration or a related area may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Food Preparation and Serving classifications or Food Preparation and Serving specialty codes in the Food Service field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates who possess a ServSafe certification are highly desired.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached or carry an electronic pager.

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated.  The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  Please report all related education, experience, dates and hours of work.  For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.  All information concerning your qualifications must be submitted by the closing date.  We will not consider information submitted after this date.  Applicants certified to list will receive eligibility for a period of one (1) year.  Eligibility may be extended beyond one (1) year period.
