LOCATION OF POSITION

Cheltenham, Maryland (Prince George's County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Food Service Supervisor I will coordinate and supervise a large-scale kitchen and food operation for the purpose of feeding the youth who are detained within DJS facilities.

POSITION DUTIES

The Food Services Supervisor I will supervise the preparation and cooking of all items on the menu. The incumbent will assign, review and approve the work of DJS' cooks and food service workers. The Food Services Supervisor will provide oversight to sanitation procedures and monitor for quality in all aspects of meal service, including food temperature in refrigerators and dish washing machines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Additional education in the area of food service management, nutritional care, institutional administration or a related area may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Food Preparation and Serving classifications or Food Preparation and Serving specialty codes in the Food Service field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates who possess a ServSafe certification are desired

Candidates who possess at least one year of supervisory experience in food production are desired
