The Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) is a diverse, bilingual community who in partnership with families, provides an equitable and exemplary education in a nurturing, engaging and challenging environment to insure our students achieve personal excellence and become lifelong learners.  As such, we are looking for dedicated individuals who can join us in the education of the children at MSD.

Substitute teachers are responsible for providing instruction, managing classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Candidates must possess knowledge of curriculum and instruction, maintain strict confidentiality of students and school personnel information, exceptional organizational skills, effective classroom management, strong written communication, and experience working with a diverse student population, including underserved students. Candidates must comply with and support MSD's regulations and policies. The above mentioned statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to the job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills that may be required. On-call substitute teachers need to be available on an on-call basis.  This is a contractual position.

Bachelor's Degree required. Fluency in ASL and written English required. Knowledge of Deaf Community preferred. Knowledge of students with additional disabilities and ability to teach students on different levels and with varying educational background required.
