Introduction

Main Purpose of Job
Substitute teachers are responsible for providing instruction, managing classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Candidates must possess knowledge of curriculum and instruction, maintain strict confidentiality of students and school personnel information, exceptional organizational skills, effective classroom management, strong written communication, and experience working with a diverse student population, including underserved students. Candidates must comply with and support MSD's regulations and policies. On-call substitute teachers need to be available on an on-call basis. This is a contractual position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required. Fluency in ASL and written English required. Knowledge of Deaf Community preferred. Knowledge of students with additional disabilities and ability to teach students on different levels and with varying educational background required.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Deaf Community preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
