Main Purpose of Job

This position will plan events, logistics and coordination, will be integrally involved in event sourcing and follow-up; will be responsible for coordinating large and small events and will develop relationships with potential clients and vendors.  This job requires a passion for detail, organization and creativity; budgeting, marketing and public relations skills along with an understanding of how to leverage digital/social media.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Create, plan, manage logistics and execute revenue generating (fundraising), cultivation and community engagement events/initiatives including the execution of a $2.5 million Vietnam Veterans initiative culminating in a multi-faceted/media event in June 2016.
  • Present projects to prospects; write presentations; create and modify agreements and close deals.
  • Research, initiate, secure and execute partnerships for events.
  • Interact and collaborate with cross-functional teams including corporate support, foundation/grants, operations, content, web, development, staff, volunteers and outside vendors to ensure execution of special events as well as raise sponsorship and/or trade revenue for various events/projects.
  • Manage and coordinate with various departments to promote and market events via a variety of methods including but not limited to email, mail, web and social media.  Host cross departmental post meetings to find best practices. 
  • Act as overall project manager for events.
  • Assist the Managing Director, Special Events & Community Engagement in creating, managing, executing and overseeing an annual department budget along with multiple project budgets with responsibility for success.
  • Compose, create, edit and deliver email newsletters, invitations, surveys, RSVP’s and fundraising messages. 
  • Ensure all contract benefits are accurately and timely fulfilled for both MPT and sponsors, adhering to all scheduling deadlines.
  • Track and schedule sponsor on-air credit – tracking activity and balance for each vendor/community partner.  Organize, maintain and disseminate accurate spreadsheets and documents reflecting the scheduling, status and completion of contract benefits. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in event planning, public relations, marketing, communications or related field experience preferred.

Experience: 4 years-experience in event planning, promotions, marketing or public relations preferred.
