Main Purpose of Job

Provides budgetary, accounting, procurement, internal control, human resource, audit, grant management, financial analysis/reporting, and miscellaneous staff support to Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) operating divisions, and interfaces with other MSDE staff support branches such as accounting, budget, procurement, audit, and information technology. Acts as a technical and financial advisor to one or more MSDE Assistant Superintendents, and the Director of the Division of Business Services. In this capacity, this position interprets applicable laws, regulations, and enforces MSDE grant policy and requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.  

EXPERIENCE: Two years of professional experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles.  

NOTES: Applicants may substitute a Bachelor's Degree with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing for the required education.
