LOCATION OF POSITION

State Board of Elections, Annapolis, MD

Main Purpose of Job

The Election Reform and Management Director is responsible for implementing, managing and supporting various projects related to the election process and improving election administration in Maryland. The Director also ensures on-going compliance with the Help America Vote Act, Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act, and other federal election laws and any federal funds awarded to the State under these laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1.  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. 

2.  4 years of experience with election administration.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Each candidate must have 2 years of experience with reviewing, developing, implementing and improving processes and procedures for the public administration of State or local government or equivalent experience in the private sector.  Each candidate must also have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Detail orientated, good organizational skills, and strong verbal and writing skills

2.  Ease with public speaking and ability to set and conduct meetings

3.  Adult training experience

1. Employees in this classification may not hold or be a candidate for any elective public or political party office or any office created under the Constitution or laws of this State in accordance with the Election Law Article, Section 2-301(b).
