The main purpose of this position is to supervise inmate work in a state correctional facility's laundry operation which provides laundry services for internal and external customers.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six (6) months of experience in the operation of laundry equipment and machinery.

1. Prior experience in commercial laundry operations and management.  Preferable in a lead worker capacity.

2. Knowledge operation of laundry equipment and machinery including heavy duty washing machines, extractors, dryers, flat ironers, folders and pressing units is preferred.

3. Experience reviewing activity reports, and other performance data to prepare budget estimates, staffing schedules and production reports.

4. Experience in supervising employees; preferably in a production setting.

5. Must be computer literate, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Office Suite.

1. Specific educational requirements and other selection standards are set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01.

If selected for this position you must meet the selection standards required and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a correctional officer during their probationary period, (Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209). Selection standards for correctional officer training are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01 and include the following: U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status Must be at least 21 years of age A completed background investigation Oral interview Physical examination.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
