Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) is seeking dynamic, professional students interested in an unpaid, full-time/part-time, internships. This internship will aim to provide students with a substantive project involvement and technical assistance sufficient to justify the award of course credit through an agency of the Maryland State Government. The student will provide support to staff within the Policy and Compliance Administration (PCA). The intern will gain experience by taking on key responsibilities within the PCA programs, including program implementation, provider compliance, provider enrollment and answering public inquiries via telephone and e-mail requests. The intern will redirect and/or make appropriate referrals within or outside of DHMH, post information into the Programs' Electronic databases. The intern will prepare and compose routine correspondence, controlled correspondence, memoranda, and charts, and will complete mass mailings for the Division regularly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Student must be pursuing a degree in Health Science, Health Care Administration, Public Health, or Public Policy eligible to receive intern credit through their education institution.

Must commit to 15-40 hours per week depending on school requirements.

 Basic Computer knowledge.

No guarantee of employment upon completing an internship.
