Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional position in the field of vocational rehabilitation responsible for the supervision of programs and services, as well as the supervision of staff and expansion of services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.  

POSITION DUTIES

Provides direct leadership/management and technical assistance in the planning, implementation and administration of programs and services within WTC's Autism Services Department which contributes to the Agency's goal of promoting independence and employment of individuals with disabilities.  Provide direct supervision to staff within the Autism Services Department to ensure the delivery of quality services which are consistent and in accordance with established protocol.  Also provides leadership and technical expertise to WTC and DORS staff in the management and direction of services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders; and maintains expert knowledge of research studies, statistical data and resources related to Autism and the development and management of services for that population.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree is required.  A Master’s Degree is preferred.  

Experience:

Three years of professional experience in administration, teaching or rehabilitation work in education or rehabilitation programs for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.  Two years of experience in supervising programs and services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders is required.  

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of principles, procedures, laws and regulations of the Vocational Rehabilitation Program; knowledge of the planning process including development of goals strategies and performance measures; knowledge of personnel management, supervision and leadership skills; knowledge of community resources, research and statistical data regarding Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD); ability to communicate effectively both orally and written; ability to maintain effective relationships with agency administrators and community partners, particularly institutions of higher education; ability  to maintain and expand Memorandums of Understanding with state-wide community colleges, ability to supervise multiple programs and serve as a technical expert for the delivery of services for individuals w/ASD; knowledge of program development and implementation; ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment in making decisions and assessing program needs.  Requires travel and participation in evening activities and meetings.
