Introduction
The Office of Administrative Hearing is currently looking for an Administrative Law Judge.
The salary for this position is $95,840 (non-negotiable).

Main Purpose of Job
To conduct administrative hearings and issue decisions pursuant to the Administrative Procedure Act and other laws and regulations.
POSITION DUTIES
-
Conducts in person, telephone and video hearings involving private attorneys, Assistant Attorneys General, County Attorneys, Assistant Public Defenders, and pro se litigants;
- Travels throughout the State to conduct hearings at a variety of locations, including psychiatric facilities and correctional facilities, etc.; Conducts research into applicable law, including statutes,ordinances, regulations, the State and federal constitutions, and agency/departmental policy;
- Rules on objections at hearings, including evidentiary objections;
- Evaluates and analyzes evidence, such as complex medical and other scientific evidence and the credibility of witnesses, including expert witnesses;
- Ensures the fair conduct of hearings;
- Conducts mediations and settlement conferences and Draft Settlement/agreements;
- Digitally records and maintains hearing record; and
- Issues written and bench decisions, including findings of fact, conclusions of law, summaries of the evidence, discussions and Orders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Juris Doctorate degree .
Bar Admission: Admission to the Maryland Bar.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Must be an Attorney in good standing for at least five years, be licensed to practice law in Maryland and possess excellent writing, legal research, time management and computer skills.
