Main Purpose of Job

The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for a Contractual Management Associate position for the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA). Responsibilities for this position include preparing for litigation and appellate matters; typing pleadings, motions, memoranda of law and appellate briefs; keeping current all litigation files; organizing exhibits and other documents in preparation for trial, hearings, meetings or other purposes; serving as MDA Regulations Coordinator; maintaining calendars for MDA attorneys; preparing and submitting accounts payable and receivable for OAG unit; ordering office supplies; making travel arrangements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements for this position are a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as five years of secretarial experience. (Pertinent volunteer and/or part-time experience is acceptable. Applicants may substitute an Associate of Arts degree with a major in Secretarial Science from an accredited college for up to two years of the required experience.)  Familiarity with internet legal research databases and legal secretarial experience is required.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants shall have knowledge of Microsoft Word, telephone experience and organizational skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a typewriter or keyboard on a personal computer, computer terminal or word processor at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
