Main Purpose of Job
This position plans, implements, coordinates and monitors rehabilitation programs for individuals being served at the Workforce & Technology Center (WTC). Counseling and guidance are provided to consumers to ensure that comprehensive services contribute to the achievement of established training goals, support career and employment objectives, and address the personal, social and independence skills necessary to promote employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities served by the Agency/Center.
POSITION DUTIES
Provide Center Counseling/case management services to individuals referred to the Workforce & Technology Center; coordinate interdisciplinary services among and between vocational and clinical programs within the Center; provide on-going personal and vocational counseling services to promote active participation in established rehabilitation programs; resolve any conflicts; enlist the support of parents, spouses, and other significant persons in monitoring and promoting the students’ rehabilitation goals; work with training Instructors and the Partnership Training coordinator to assist with all planning, development and implementation of services, and meet with agency staff and/or employers both at the Center
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Level I –Professional experience in a behavioral or social science related field is preferred. Level II –Two years of professional experience in a behavioral or social science related field is required; a Master’s Degree in a Behavioral or Social Science related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: principles, procedures and regulations pertaining to providing rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities; relationship between functional limitations presented by disabilities and employment goals; professional counseling, interviewing, and evaluation procedures; social and economic structure of community organizations and groups providing services and information for people with disabilities; practices related to job search and employer outreach activities; and of laws and regulations governing the administration of vocational rehabilitation, workers’ compensation, social security and social services. Ability to: communicate effectively; effectively plan and organize assigned work and meet established performance standards; coordinate and deliver multidisciplinary services required to support rehabilitation programs; analyze/interpret varied medical, psychological and vocational reports; establish and maintain appropriate relationships with consumers, employers, public and private organization representatives, providers of rehabilitation services, the general public, punctuality/attendance and ability to complete work in a timely manner.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual skills preferred.
American Sign Language skills preferred.
