Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional position providing technical assistance and program support to the Early Learning Branch within the Division of Early Childhood Development in the areas of Pre-K and Kindergarten, Judy P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Enhancement Program, and the state curriculum for grades Pre-K to 2.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides technical assistance and consultation to Judy Centers and early childhood programs; researches, analyzes and makes recommendations regarding management, administrative, and procedural practices; writes comprehensive,  logical, and concise reports and correspondence; reviews and assists in the development of monitoring policies and programs, including Pre-K and Kindergarten initiatives, Judy P. Hoyer Centers, the development of the state curriculum;  Serves as the assistant coordinator of the Judith P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Enhancement Program; reviews existing and proposed strategies for the statewide goal of children entering school ready to learn in Title 1 attendance areas; identifies program needs regarding the transition of young children into public school; researches, collaborates and evaluates best practices and strategies within the birth-8, including the Pre-K and Kindergarten span;  represents the Division to other departments and agencies, other public bodies and private foundations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: A Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate course work in Education, Educational Administration/Supervision or a related field.  

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of professional experience in coordinating or administering an education program or service directly related to Early Childhood.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

 Knowledge of Early Learning and development programs; knowledge of Maryland Judy Centers and State Curriculum; knowledge of State and Federal laws,  policies, issues and regulations governing education programs for Early learning students; skill in developing and presenting staff development; skill in coordinating and managing multiple tasks; ability to support teachers and administrators; ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships; ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
