Main Purpose of Job

This position serves under the direction of the Assistant State Superintendent of Student, Family & School Support and is responsible for providing managerial and administrative oversight of Student Support Services, Youth Development, Program Improvement and Family Support and School Innovations.

POSITION DUTIES

Manages, directs, oversees, coordinates, and supports the Division’s program Branch initiatives; provides logistical oversight for planning and implementing of the Division’s monitoring and technical assistance plan; directs the publication of the Bridge to Excellence Master Plan; coordinates processes for policy articulation and vetting; communicates policy, legislative, and reform issues and updates; oversees and coordinates the statewide system for students and schools requiring targeted or intensive interventions; facilitates preparation, formatting, production, and dissemination of Division products and services; responds to issues and official matters on behalf of the Assistant State Superintendent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post-baccalaureate course work in Education, Educational Supervision/Administration, or a related area.  

EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years of related experience educational supervision and management that includes coordinating or administering education programs related to student services, school improvement, school performance, program assessment, and teacher development.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of School Improvement Initiatives and initiative for student and family services; knowledge of Title I and at-risk programs; knowledge of comprehensive school reform trends and practices; knowledge of education grant proposal processes; skill in leading and directing teams with multiple tasks; ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships through effective leadership and cross-functional communication, producing numerous quality deliverables and services in a timely fashion;  ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; ability to consistently providing proactive problem-solving skills to satisfy the needs of customers while balancing varying requirements and obligations of the Division.  

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and possible travel throughout the State are required. Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.
