Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking to fill a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position at Spring Grove Hospital, which is JCAHO Accredited. This senior level management position has full administrative and clinical responsibilities for the Hospital and its support service activities within the Center.  Responsibilities include financial management, physical plant management, dietary, personnel management, as well as clinical management of multiple programs. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the Spring Grove Hospital Campus, its buildings, and its tenants and for the health & safety of the tenants while performing their essential functions on this campus including overall managerial supervision for this publicly funded multi-faceted facility.  The CEO provides leadership in resolving legal, programmatic, and fiscal issues while maintaining compliance with State, Federal, and Joint Commission standards. The CEO coordinates and collaborates with government agencies, legislators, private treatment providers, courts, and detention centers.  This position is considered emergency essential and will receive managerial supervision from the Deputy Director, Behavioral Health Administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Four years of experience in treatment of clients in behavioral health care, to include experience in program planning, development and quality improvement initiatives as well as significant experience overseeing fiscal and human resources; two of those years must include management and supervision of clinical and administrative staff in an organization which provides services in a behavioral health care setting.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Board certification in psychiatry is preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must possess current registration and licensure as a Physician by the Maryland State Board of Physicians; or the ability to become registered and licensed prior to hire date. 

2. Board certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board is also required. Board certification in Psychiatry is preferred.
