DHMH, Prevention and Health Promotion Administration, Baltimore, MD
Main Purpose of Job
The Director of Primary Care and Community Health Bureau manages the Health Promotion and Protection Administration's Primary Care and Community Health Bureau, providing clinical and administrative/operational leadership for the Office of Cancer Prevention and Control, the Office of Tobacco Prevention and Control, the Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, the Office of Oral Health, and the Office of Primary Care Access. This position manages through subordinate Office Directors, a total budget of approximately $83 million and a staff of approximately 110 residing in permanent State and contractual employment. The incumbent develops a strategic plan for the provision of health services in the areas of cancer and chronic disease, establishes and implements policies, goals, objectives and procedures, and manages and supervises the provision of these services through office directors and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a MD or DO degree, Board Certification and at least three years of management/supervisory experience including responsibility for developing budgets, tracking expenditures, and staff recruitment. Maryland License to practice medicine required prior to appointment. The successful applicant should have demonstrated public health experience at either the federal, state, or local level.
