Main Purpose of Job

To assist the maintenance staff with their various maintenance related duties required within a large size state facility.

POSITION DUTIES

Assigned to perform cleaning for the interior and exterior of the State building to include: technical floor care duties such as stripping and waxing; sweeping and removing trash from assigned areas; transporting soiled and clean linens, and trimming bushes and cleaning debris. Clean the parking lots and maintains the lawn equipment; performs general cleaning of assigned areas that includes cleaning bathrooms, wiping off furniture, dusting, vacuuming, and mopping of floors; assists with room set-ups for center meetings. Employees are subject to emergency call up to assist with snow removal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: None.

Experience: Six months of experience cleaning, maintaining and servicing buildings and grounds.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Basic knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used to maintain and service State buildings and grounds; knowledge of the safe use, adjustment and maintenance of manual and power tools and equipment used to maintain and service State buildings and grounds; ability to operate a vehicle and lift heavy items.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees appointed to positions in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
