This is a contractual position.

The Division of Finance and Administration is seeking a qualified enthusiastic candidate to fill a contractual fiscal accounts technician position in its Finance Division. This position will process payments, code cash receipts, reconcile accounts, and assist our team who wants to come to work knowing that what they do makes a difference.  Successful candidates will have strong Excel skills, take initiative and communicate well with the team.  DHCD offers a flexible schedule, advancement opportunities, and potential of permanent employment.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Crownsville, Maryland

In the future, DHCD will be relocating from Crownsville, Anne Arundel County, to the New Carrollton transit stop location in Prince George’s County.

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this job is to provide general support of a financial and administrative nature to employees in the Department, thereby supporting the goals and mission of DHCD and the Division, as described in the Managing for Results (MFR) documents. Serve as assistant to the Department's Property Officer responsible for the management and maintenance of the Department's fixed asset and supplies inventories in accordance with the Department of General Services (DGS) regulations. Manage the Department's billing and accounts receivable and perform various tasks related to the accounting of cash receipts, along with creating and maintaining written procedures for all duties under their responsibility. Perform backup for Accounting Office functions and other related assignments as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Note:

1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.
