Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position in the Office of Information Technology and Applications Division is to provide support to the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration and Office for Genetics and People with Special Health Care Needs.  The position will be providing data management system support and by designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and securing the integrity of the PHPA-OGPSHCN data by adhering to DHMH policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.  In addition, this position will support web-based .NET and SQL Server projects undertaken by OIT-AD.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology related field to include course work in database management systems.  A copy of  your official or unofficial transcripts must be accompany with your application to receive credit.

Experience: One year of experience designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling database management systems for computers.

Notes:

1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate plus thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in database management systems may be substituted for the required education.

2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for computers may be substituted for the required education.

3. Experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school education on a year-for-year basis.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Database Administration classifications or Database Administration specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should have experience as a Microsoft .NET Application Developer and Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator.  The candidate should have experience using the following ,SQL Server 2008 R2/2008/2005, VisualStudio2010/2008, ASP.NET, CSS, VB.NET, XML, JavaScript, ADO.NET, C#, and ASP.NET Web Services.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
