Main Purpose of Job

This position provides full performance level work implementing, maintaining, and controlling database management systems for all computer types (iPad, Android, laptop, desktop, tablet, security monitoring system, etc.).  This position will: (a) provide network administration, troubleshooting, and PC support; (b) resolve PC hardware and software issues; and (c) maintain security and integrity of data by specifying access policies, standards, methods, and parameters.  It does this by developing standards for applications programs and establishing recovery plans to minimize data losses and system downtime by performing back up routines for the database management system software for the stored data.  This employee is responsible for maintaining the Dental Board's website and will design page layouts and/or graphics for the website.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology related field to include course work in database management systems.

Experience: One year of experience designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling database management systems for computers.

Notes:

1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate plus thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in database management systems may be substituted for the required education.

2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for computers may be substituted for the required education.

3. Experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for high school education on a year-for-year basis.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Database Administration classifications or Database Administration specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a strong working knowledge and be highly skilled as a Microsoft.Net Application Developer and Microsoft SQL Server Database Management Administrator.  Candidate should also have a minimum of five years experience using SQL Server 2008-R2/2008/2005, ASP.NET, CSS, VB.NET, XML, Java Script, ADO.NET, and Crystal Reports. Candidate should also have experience using Visual Studio2010/2008 and knowledge of C#, SP.NET Web Services.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
