Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Vision and Hearing Screening Technician Trainee is the entry level of vision and hearing screening work in a local health department. The main purpose of this position is to protect and promote the health of school-aged children in Queen Anne's County in both the public and private sectors by assisting in the annual vision and hearing screenings within the school systems as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalence certificate.

Experience:  None.

NOTE:

Applicants may substitute experience operating audiometric and vision screening equipment in a vision and hearing screening program on a year for year basis for up to four years of the required education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants may be given a medical examination and may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform the work required of the position prior to appointment.
