Main Purpose of Job

The Director for the Bureau of Family Health Services (FHS) is responsible for administering a budget of nearly $10 million comprised of County and State funds; directing a staff of approximately 100 clinical, managerial, clerical and service personnel located at several different facilities in the County; and assessing, planning, developing, implementing and evaluating nursing and other comprehensive programs devoted to public health services including Access to Care (REACH, ACC/EACC/Ombudsman, Healthy Start and Healthy Babies), WIC, Dental Health and Eligibility and Enrollment (MCHP and MA Transportation).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  A master’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university.   

Experience:  Five years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity or two years of experience as a community health nurse and three years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a registered nurse.  A bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field and six years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education and experience. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.
