Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the Contractual Community Health Nurse I position is to provide school nursing services to Dorchester County Public School students and staff. The duties include but are not limited to administering medications and treatments, age appropriate health screenings, assessing and care of the ill or injured, health record maintenance, immunization reviews, case management of chronic health concerns, care plan development, team participation and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurse.

Experience:  None.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Having previous pediatric nursing experience is desirable.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.  Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

2.  Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
