Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to support the Biosurveillance program within the Office of Preparedness and Response. The incumbent will participate in the public health biosurveillance activities designed to detect potential infectious disease outbreaks or other public health related occurrences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master’s degree in the field of Public Health from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three graduate courses in Epidemiology and one graduate course in Biostatistics. TRANSCRIPTS MUST ACCOMPANY APPLICATION.

Experience: None

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Science classifications or Clinical Lab, Medical Scientists, or Lab Officer specialty codes in the health research field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

. Experience with SAS and R.

. Experience in disease surveillance.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
