Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to perform independently moderately complex tasks in maintenance work, including routine construction work, rendering routine preventive maintenance, and making minor repairs or improvements to building, fixtures, mechanical equipment, grounds, and roadways of the Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions 24 hour substance abuse/co-occurring facility. This is a part-time contractual position which may require working rotating shifts and subject to call in duty.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:  Two years of employment in the Maryland State class of Maintenance Worker III or equivalent level State class.

OR

Education:    Completion of the fifth grade.

Experience:  Four years’ employment in any combination of two or more of the maintenance trades such as carpentry, electricity, metalwork, welding, painting, plastering, plumbing, air-conditioning, refrigeration, steam fitting, masonry, and the other trowel trades.

NOTE:

1.  Graduation from an accredited vocational-technical high school (e.g. Carver, Merganthaler, Eastern, etc.) may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in any combination of maintenance trades, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
