Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Personnel Clerk is the first of several levels of paraprofessional personnel work in Maryland State Government involving the operation and implementation of a personnel program. The main purpose of this position is to provide general personnel support by lending guidance and assistance to agency staff and the public, and to serve as a personnel liaison with the DHMH Office of Human Resources staff.  This position primarily serves as the agency timekeeper, payroll officer, Special Payments contract monitor, agency ATR, benefits coordinator and leave bank coordinator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  One year of general clerical or administrative support experience.

NOTE:

1.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in human resources assistance classification or human resources assistance specialty codes in the human resources management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
