Introduction
By law, DJS is a child-serving agency responsible for assessing the individual needs of referred youth and providing intake, detention, probation, commitment and after-care services. DJS collaborates with youth, families, schools, community partners, law enforcement and other public agencies to coordinate services and resources to contribute to safer communities.

Main Purpose of Job
To function as the Office Manager for the Community Services Division-Western Region(Allegany, Frederick, Garrett and Washington Counties) and to provide Administrative support to the Regional Director.
POSITION DUTIES
The position duties require the use of independent authority and responsibility for facilitating Community Services divisional management details daily. This position coordinates the Administrative operations of the division, to include: personnel matters, statistical projects, time line management, office equipment, taking minutes at management meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration or Personnel Specialist classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Special Assistant or Secretarial fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

*Experience in the performance of duties as an Office Manager and the ability to work independently
*Experience in maintain a monthly calendar for the management team
*Experience organizing and review for accuracy all performance evaluations
*Experience in data entry entering police reports and complaints into the ASSIST database
*Extensive customer services skills in an office setting working with internal and external customers
*Experience compiling monthly statistics using Departmental spreadsheets
*Highly proficient in managing the regional credit card purchases and invoices
*Experience in training lower-level office professionals
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
This recruitment is open to current permanent and contractual employees of the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services only.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a typewriter or keyboard on a personal computer, computer terminal or word processor at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
