Main Purpose of Job

This position provides administrative and secretarial support to the Medical Relations Office (MRO).

POSITION DUTIES

Provide support to MRO electronic medical evidence (EME) initiatives. Review and maintain agency database for failed or transmission problems with electronic outbound requests (EOR) and electronic records express (ERE).  Analyzes trends and report findings and recommendations. Provide support to Medical Evidence of Records (MER) and Consultative Examination (CE) providers with ERE website as well as Operations staff.  Create and update databases, agency vendor file, operations resource manual and school vendor files.  Schedule transportation for CE appointments, prepare correspondence to claimants and  coordinate mass mailings. Provide clerical support which includes typing, filing, incoming calls, maintaining schedules, calendars and distributing mail.  Serve as primary backup for CE Scheduling Unit support staff and CE oversight responsibility of Scheduling Unit for Administrative Aide.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes:

1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar; ability to research methods, and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information for reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and CE providers; ability to lead. Knowledge of Microsoft computer software programs including the ability to create tables and manage databases such as Access, Excel and other computer applications.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
