Green Ridge State Forest- Flintstone, MD (Allegany County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Service, is currently accepting applications for two (2) Seasonal Contractual Natural Resources Technicians. This position will assist staff with habitat restoration and management activities. Responsibilities include woody plant management and invasive species management which require the use of hand-held tools and equipment such as portable drills and herbicide applicators. Employee must provide own transportation to and from work sites in Green Ridge State Forest.

NOTE: This position has limited hours and will not be extended.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, 18 of which are in biology, biochemistry, environmental science, forest technology, arboriculture, aquaculture, natural science, natural resources management, botany, marine biology, marine ecology, physical oceanography, ichthyology, fisheries management , wildlife management, zoology, or a natural resources management related field of study.  

Experience:  None.  

Notes:    

1. Additional experience performing technical biological work in the field of forestry, arboriculture, wildlife, aquaculture, natural resources management, or fisheries may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.  

2. Additional education beyond sixty credit hours from an accredited college or university in a natural resources related field of study can be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to candidates who possess experience in invasive species management and the operation of hand-held power tools.
