Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Service is seeking interested candidates for a Seasonal Contractual Natural Resources Technician I position at the Grove Farm Wildlife Management Area located in Earleville, Maryland. This is semi-professional work related to managing wildlife resources, habitat and public recreation on public and private lands. This incumbent will perform land management, habitat management and maintenance activities on the network of wildlife management and managed hunting areas in Cecil County, Maryland. Responsibilities also include assisting with wildlife surveys, data collection and other land management projects on public lands administered by the Wildlife and Heritage Service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, 18 of which are in biology, biochemistry, environmental science, forest technology, arboriculture, aquaculture, natural science, natural resources management, botany, marine biology, marine ecology, physical oceanography, ichthyology, fisheries management, wildlife management, zoology, or a natural resources management related field of study.

Experience:  None.

Notes:

1. Additional experience performing technical biological work in the field of forestry, arboriculture, wildlife, aquaculture, natural resource management, or fisheries may be substituted on a year- for- year basis for the required education.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with the operation and basic maintenance of farm tractors and associated equipment, power tools, chain saws, and machinery.
