Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Service, is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Contractual Technician position located at Cambridge Work Center, Cambridge, MD. The incumbent will provide technical assistance for forestry activities that will be important for various wildlife habitat management projects on private and public lands on the Eastern Shore of Maryland from March-December 2015 (up to 1000 hours).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university in a natural resources-related major, preferably forestry.

Experience:  Applicants must have 1 year of work experience in a forestry-related position.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience conducting timber inventories, writing management plans, and coordinating timber harvests with various state agencies and timber harvest operators.

Knowledge of standard protocols for collecting field data and have extensive knowledge of dendrology and plant identification in Maryland.  

Familiarity with early-successional wildlife species and habitat management.
