Main Purpose of Job

This position will be responsible for determining the financial, regulatory and overall due diligence considerations for Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) facility operators, manufacturers, their officers, directors, employees, and other designated persons.

POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent in this position is responsible for:

1. Certifying revenue from the Video Lottery Terminals (VLT).

2. Receiving complaints from the public.

3. Receiving shipments of State-owned equipment.

4. Monitoring facility employees and vendors and ensuring that various aspects of the casino’s internal controls, security surveillance and responsible gaming plans are adhered to.

5. Performing licensing functions and ensuring the integrity of the VLT gaming operation.

6. Employees in these positions are responsible for conducting investigations when warranted.

7. The Casino Compliance Representatives for this position are based at the Ocean Downs Casino but must report to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency headquarters in Baltimore City when necessary. 

This position reports to the Casino Compliance Supervisor. Individuals must be willing to work all shifts. Employees in this classification are deemed essential employees and must report for work or remain at work during declared state of emergency conditions to support continued lottery and casino operations. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours per day 7 days per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a law enforcement agency 
  • Experience working within the security industry
  • Experience working within the casino industry
  • Prior military experience  

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The assessment may consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.  You are required to complete a qualification supplement as part of the application process and the rating will be based on your application and the supplement. Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  You must report all experience and education that is related to this position. Approved candidates will be rated as Best Qualified, Better Qualified and Qualified and remain on the eligible list for at least one year.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
