Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual WIC Services Associate is the full performance level of work providing paraprofessional services to WIC clients such as income eligibility determination, health screening, health care and other referrals, and basic nutrition education. The main purpose of this position is to perform eligibility determination, health and nutrition screening and referral services to WIC applicants, provide basic nutrition counseling to WIC clients, and issue WIC checks to eligible participants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  One year of experience in health or human service delivery, performing tasks such as program eligibility determination, health screening, client referral services, or nutrition education.

NOTE:

1.  Completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the experience requirement.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.  

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
