This office is approximately 55 miles north of Baltimore, off of Interstate 95; the last exit before the Maryland/Delaware line.

Main Purpose of Job

The primary function of this position is to provide instruction to Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) customers in employment readiness skills training.

POSITION DUTIES

Provide whole group, small group and/or individualized instruction to Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) customers using multiple curricula including the Winning New Jobs curriculum. Plans daily lessons and prepares materials for instruction, assess learning using informal assessments, maintain records including attendance and achievement.  Effectively manages the classroom environment to maximize learning; coordinates content delivery of career development activities for employment and training.  

Utilize automated system (OWRA) to assess individual customer’s competencies.

Provide quality service to all customers (internal and external) when interacting in person, by telephone or in writing according to established guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will possess the following:

A Bachelor's Degree in social and/or behavioral science.

Knowledge of welfare to work programs.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Previous teaching experience and ability to work as part of a collaborative team.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to candidates willing to work in Cecil County, which is located approximately 55 miles north of Baltimore, off of Interstate 95; the last exit before the Maryland/Delaware line.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
