Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for monitoring, repairing, purchasing, managing and generating requisitions for office supplies and equipment for the agency. Serves as lead clerical to ensure that various daily workloads for clerical and data entry functions related to claims processing for the Case Control Unit are completed in absence of Staff Specialist III.

POSITION DUTIES

Monitoring, repairing, purchasing, managing and generating requisitions for office supplies and equipment for the agency; track, log and monitor equipment repairs and identify and dispose of excess property through proper state and federal process; resolve billing and delivery issues and notifying appropriate personnel of agency budget or open purchase orders. Serves as lead clerical to ensure daily workloads for clerical and data entry functions are completed in absence of the Staff Specialist III; respond to inquiries for status for social security disability insurance (SSDI) and supplemental security income (SSI) claims as well as provide clerical support to Staff Specialist III.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.
  2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

 Must have working experience with Access, Excel spreadsheets, and FMIS.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Individuals selected for positions with the Maryland State Department of Education's Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems. Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
