Work that Matters.  The Office of Community Outreach is responsible for promoting the Department of Housing and Community Development (“DHCD”) housing programs and initiatives including the Department's foreclosure prevention initiatives for low and moderate-income Maryland residents.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Crownsville, Maryland

In the future, DHCD will be relocating from Crownsville, Anne Arundel County, to the New Carrollton transit stop location in Prince George’s County.

POSITION DUTIES

Under the direction of the Director of Community Outreach, the Administrative Officer position is to provide administrative support to the Office of Community Outreach by assisting the Director in ensuring that Community Outreach operates in an efficient, quality centered manner using resources appropriately; ensure coordination of the agencies publications; including coordination of monthly mailings, ordering supplies and overseeing workflow. Maintain Outreach database of outreach activities, marketing collateral mailings, event/office supplies and generates and maintains outreach reports. Coordinating reporting results to the OS, State Stat, and other DHCD divisions. This position processes invoices for payment, in accordance with the state procurement policies/procedures and works with various vendors and other DHCD divisions to ensure delivery of billed services, obtains proper paperwork, legal review of contracts, obtains approvals and tracks payments; working closely with DFA, Legal and FFMS to ensure accuracy of the OCO's records. Manage the units CPC process; including making purchases, coordinating staff travel arrangements, managing the agencies sponsorship process for external events; including submitting request to the Director for review/sign-off.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of experience in Public Relations preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience performing executive level administrative work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate calendars in Google Mail
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
