This is a position specific recruitment for Caroline County ONLY.  This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only.  The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.  Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Caroline County Board of Elections, Denton MD

Denton, MD is located approximately 70 miles from Baltimore City.

POSITION DUTIES

This position focuses on customer service relating to all aspects of voter registration and various stages of the election process, including voting equipment preparation and maintenance. Must be able to perform the primary functions related to working with various computer program applications independently at levels that are critical and necessary for providing essential reports, data, statistics, correspondence, forms, etc. required and mandated by State & Federal Election Laws, Public Officials and other Government Agencies and used for training and processing elections. This position is also responsible for organizing and maintaining files for voter registration, election results, voting equipment logs & inventory, coordinating and performing all functions of voter outreach, providing assistance on the design and preparation of forms and guides for judges training, Election Day and all other forms as needed in the office; assists Election Director and Election Supervisor in election judge training and election preparation. This position will also provide assistance to the Election Director in all aspects of voting equipment preparation and maintenance prior to the elections and performing voting equipment maintenance after the elections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience in the operation of data entry devices.

Notes:

1. Specialized, documented training in data processing may substitute for six months of the required experience.

2. General clerical experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education. General clerical experience is defined as work performing a variety of clerical duties which are clear-cut and typically found in office settings, such as filing, copying, posting data and directing telephone calls.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Computer Clerk and Assistant classifications or Computer Clerk and Assistant specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are required to be registered voters in the State of Maryland in accordance with the Election Law Article, Section 2-207(d).

2. Employees in this classification may not hold or be a candidate for any elective public or political party office or any other office created under the Constitution or laws of this State in accordance with the Election Law Article, Section 2-301(b).
