Introduction
This is a position specific recruitment for a Customer Service Leader / Receptionist at the College Savings Plans of MD. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year. Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply.

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this job is to provide specialized clerical and administrative support to the agency. This position is responsible for the main reception of all incoming calls and visitors to the agency.
POSITION DUTIES
The College Savings Plans of Maryland is an independent State agency responsible for administering the “Prepaid College Trust Plan” and the “College Investment Plan”. Both plans are the State’s only qualifying 529 plans, named after the section of the Internal Revenue Code that permits states to establish and administer tax-advantaged college saving plans. These two plans provide flexible and affordable options to help Maryland families save for future college expenses and reduce dependence on student loans and other forms of debt. Each has its own set of features and benefits, and both offer generous federal and Maryland State tax incentives.
An Office Services Clerk is the full performance level of work performing diverse clerical duties which support agency-specific operations and require the review, verification and interpretation of information in order to make determinations and resolve problems in accordance with policies, regulations and laws applicable to agency programs. The main purpose of this position is to provide specialized clerical and administrative support to the agency in relation to the administration of the college savings plans and its account holders. Primary functions include serving as the main receptionist, greeting all visitors and assisting/directing all incoming calls to the agency; researching and responding to initial account holder inquiries and redirecting to appropriate personnel if indicated; processing account holder address changes; opening, sorting and distributing incoming mail and receipting all incoming checks; preparing written correspondence and form letters; providing administrative support to the Accounting Manager and the Chief Financial Officer / Chief Investment Officer; maintaining the shared office calendar; and other administrative/clerical duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience performing clerical duties.
Notes:
1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the requires experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).
1. One of the required years of experience must be specifically in customer service in a financial institution/setting.
2. If substituting education from an accredited college or university, 18 credit hours must be in the fields of accounting, finance, business administration, or similar subjects.

Commercial Banking customer service liaison experience is a plus

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
