Garrett County Department of Social Services is located in Western Maryland, approximately 190 miles west of the Baltimore-Washington area. 

Main Purpose of Job

This position will be the budget analyst for the various program budgets. Work includes preparing, presenting and executing agency budgets. Programs include Child Welfare and Adult Services budgets, EAFC and Program 10 budgets. The responsibilities include monitoring, projecting and evaluating on a monthly basis the AR and expenditures to ensure no deficit spending and maximizing of the agency resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Please describe in detail any job duties relating to the minimum qualifications stated below and include any computer software experience (Excel, CHESSIE, Powerpoint, Word etc.) used in the each of the positions you held.

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience in budget preparation, presentation and execution.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute graduate education in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration at a rate of 30 semester hours for one year of required experience.

 2. Candidates may substitute additional experience as defined above on a year for year basis for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
