Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Medical Care Program Specialist Trainee is the entry level of staff work developing and implementing medical care program policies and regulations that specifically impact one or more Medical Care Programs. The main purpose of this position is to function as the Medical Care Program Specialist Trainee for the Maryland Children's Health Program (MCHP) Premium Program. Under close supervision this position is the entry level developing and applying medical assistance policies and regulations. The incumbent will act as a liaison with the public and agencies regarding Medical Care Program Services and requirements, conduct surveys and studies and perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  None.

NOTE:

1.  Administrative or professional experience applying policies and regulations in medical assistance, health insurance, federal or state entitlement programs or in a health or human service program may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Operational Analyst classifications or Health Services Management specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
