The Contractual Community Health Outreach Worker I which will work under close supervision as a Peer Recovery Specialist will work with patients in outpatient substance use disorder programs to access services determined by assessment, problem identification, and individualized treatment planning to be of value to the patient as part of a holistic approach to the treatment of their disorders. The specialist will focus on individuals with a history of unsuccessful attempts to establish recovery oriented lifestyles and who are in need of multiple ancillary services available within the community. This is a full-time contractual position which may require working evenings/weekends as needed to be available to patients.

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  None. 

NOTE:

1.  Experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
