Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Fisheries Service is accepting applications for one (1) seasonal/contractual intern. This selected candidate will support the Policy and Planning Division and will assist with the penalty system administered by this Division and Office of the Attorney General at DNR and will assist staff with writing and tracking regulations and legislation.  The work week will be at least 2 days a week, Monday through Friday.

The successful candidate will assist in regulatory, policy, legislative and administrative legal work under DNR's Policy and Planning Division. Primary duties will be to support all aspects of the Division that are listed below and not limited to the following:

1. Write, research, and track regulations and legislation
2. Assists DNR Fisheries Service and the Office of the Attorney General at DNR with legal research and case preparation on fisheries related contested case hearings
3. Assist with data entry for fishing violations and preparing reports and information related to fishing violations  4.Assist with fishing violations research

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of two (2) semesters of course work at an ABA accredited law school.

Experience: None.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Fisheries, environmental, or biology experience or education is preferred but not required.
