Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland State Treasurer's Office is seeking a part-time contractual employee to provide executive level administrative support to the Deputy Treasurer for Public Policy. The Deputy Treasurer is a vital position serving the Treasurer's interests with regard to the supplementary responsibilities of the Treasurer and her roles on various financial boards and committees.

POSITION DUTIES

This position will be responsible for drafting written legislative outreach correspondence for the Deputy Treasurer informing constituents of Board of Public Works items of interest and responding to constituent concerns regarding public issues before the Board. In addition, during legislative session, this position will be responsible for monitoring legislative bills of specific interest to the Treasurer's Office.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  Five years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.

 

Notes:    

  1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 
  2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.  
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration or Personnel Specialist classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Special Assistant or Secretarial fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One of the required years of experience must be performing executive level administrative work involving customer service in a professional office environment.

Candidates must be willing to work in the Annapolis area.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates MUST submit a sample of independently written correspondence along with their application as part of the qualification requirement.  Applications without a writing sample will not be selected for an interview.
